It seems Melchior is a bigger sore on Magilou's life than Saber thought. Beyond the act of abandonment she witnessed, it almost sounds like he derives pleasure from deriding the very child he fostered. It's a tortured form of cruelty that implies he only ever valued her for her usefulness, like a man who picked up a tool on the wayside. Worse, actually. Men who discard unwanted tools don't take the time to demean them after the fact.
